Old Mill Goldendoodles

Goldendoodles combine many of the qualities people love about Golden Retrievers with the intelligence and coat characteristics of the Poodle.

We've been raising dogs since 1989, beginning with AKC Golden Retrievers and Labrador Retrievers before transitioning to Goldendoodles and Sproodles. That experience gives us firsthand knowledge of generations of dogs and the health and temperaments within many of our lines.

Temperament

Goldendoodles are smart, affectionate, and people-oriented dogs that generally enjoy being part of whatever their family is doing.

They can be playful and active outdoors, but with appropriate exercise and training, they also make wonderful companions at home.

Health

Good puppies begin with good parents.

We prioritize health and temperament when selecting dogs for our breeding program. We health-screen our parent dogs before breeding, and we also use DNA genetic screening as another tool when making breeding decisions.

Coat & Shedding

Goldendoodle coats can vary considerably, even among puppies in the same litter.

Our F1 Goldendoodles generally have wavy coats and may shed lightly. F1b Goldendoodles typically have more Poodle influence in their coats and tend to shed less.

No dog is completely hypoallergenic, and individual reactions vary. If allergies are a concern, we encourage you to spend time with our dogs before choosing a puppy.

Colors

Our Goldendoodles range from light cream through apricot and rich shades of red, reflecting the range of colors found in Golden Retrievers.

Color is beautiful, but we encourage families to consider temperament and personality when choosing their puppy, too.

Size

We raise both Moyen and Standard Goldendoodles.

Our smaller pairings generally produce puppies in the 35–55 lb. range. Our larger Standard pairings typically produce females around 50–65 lbs., with males often becoming larger.

Adult weights are estimates, and individual puppies may mature outside these ranges.

Grooming

Most Goldendoodles require regular brushing and professional grooming.

A shorter coat is generally easier to maintain and still needs regular brushing. Longer coats require more frequent brushing to prevent tangles and matting.

We recommend establishing a grooming routine while your puppy is young so brushing, bathing, nail care, and professional grooming become familiar parts of life.

Exercise

Goldendoodles enjoy walks, playtime, and being involved with their families.

Puppies need age-appropriate exercise while their bones and joints are developing. As adults, most Goldendoodles do well with regular daily walks, play, and other activities that provide both physical exercise and mental stimulation.

Is a Goldendoodle Right for You?

A Goldendoodle may be a good fit if you're looking for an intelligent, affectionate dog that enjoys being an active part of family life.

If you're deciding between a Goldendoodle and a Sproodle, we're happy to help you understand the differences.
