First Aid Kit
Your Dog First Aid Kit should include these items:
Gauze, sterile pads, and vet wrap - a self clinging elastic wrap - all can be used to wrap a wound prior to going to the vet.
Scissors.
Styptic pencil or powder to stop a nail from bleeding when it's been cut too close (I prefer the powder)
Tweezers or forceps to remove splinters, ticks, etc.
Triple antibiotic ointment to inhibit bacteria growth - spray is good too.
antiseptic to help prevent infection of minor cuts and wounds.
Hydro-cortisone cream to reduce itching caused by bug bites.
Diphenhydramine - an antihistamine for allergic reactions.
Cold pack to reduce swelling.
Eyewash to rinse objects out of the eye.
Hydrogen Peroxide (3%) to induce vomiting in the event of poisoning - ALWAYS check with the vet or poison control before administering, it can worsen some situations.
oral dosing syringe or turkey baster - for administering hydrogen peroxide
teaspoon set for measuring hydrogen peroxide
liquid hand washing soap
Antiseptic wipes - to clean a cut/wound.
Alcohol prep pads - to clean scissors and tweezers before use.
Muzzle - a scared or injured dog may even bite a loved one.
Latex gloves.
corn syrup for raising blood sugar quickly
electrolyte beverage

Most of these items you'll have on hand for your "human" emergency list - simply keep this list as a resource with your other supplies. I'm assuming you'll probably need to add the muzzle :-)
